Why you can trust Garage.co.uk

We list real, verified UK garages, not paid placements. There are no booking fees and no commission, and drivers contact garages directly. Here is exactly how the directory works and why that makes it trustworthy.

How do garages end up on Garage.co.uk?

Garages are added in two ways. We import garage records from publicly available data sources including DVSA-authorised MOT centres and verified business directories. Garage owners can also claim or submit a listing themselves on our garage sign-up page. Self-submitted listings go through our verification process before they appear in public search results.

How do you know the garages are legitimate?

Verification checks include a Companies House lookup against the trading name, a telephone verification of the published number, an address check against the postcode, and where applicable a cross-reference against the DVSA list of authorised MOT centres. Garages that pass all four checks show a Verified Listing badge with the date of the most recent check. Listings that haven't been verified are clearly marked.

Can I get a mechanic to come to me instead?

Yes. As well as contacting a local garage directly, you can request a home visit from a mobile mechanic through our partner ClickMechanic, who carry out many services and repairs at your home or workplace. Where you book a home visit through ClickMechanic, Garage.co.uk may receive a referral commission. It costs you no more, and we tell you plainly whenever a ClickMechanic option is shown.

How does Garage.co.uk make money?

Garage.co.uk is free for drivers to use and free for garages to list. We charge drivers no booking fees and take no commission from garages on any work. The directory is operated by Car Operations Limited as part of the New Reg group of motoring brands, and it supports the wider group by introducing drivers to sister services such as Car.co.uk, NewReg.co.uk and Trader.co.uk. Where a driver chooses a home visit through our partner ClickMechanic, we may receive a referral commission, which we disclose openly. We do not charge consumers to access listings, and any sponsored or promoted listing is clearly labelled per ASA / CAP Code requirements.

What happens if a listing is wrong, closed, or incorrect?

Every listing carries a "Report a problem with this listing" link. We act on every report. If a garage has closed, moved, or changed ownership, we update or remove the listing within a reasonable timeframe. We also re-verify listings periodically and date-stamp the last verification on the listing page.

Who runs Garage.co.uk?
